A: The XG is the lighter version of our flagship. It keeps the same patented geometry, ergonomic grip and full body shock absorption, but removes the LED light, alert button and knee rest. That is how it gets significantly lighter while walking exactly the same way.

Q: What is the difference between the aluminum XG and the Black Mamba?

A: The frame material. The aluminum XG is 2.2 lb per crutch, the Black Mamba is full carbon fiber at 1.8 lb per crutch. Everything else is identical, same geometry, same grip, same shock absorption, same adjustment range.

Q: Which tip does it come with?

A: Every XG ships with the patented Ergocap High Performance tip, which reproduces the natural heel to toe walking motion.

Q: What is the Ultralite tip upgrade?

A: The Ergocap Ultralite is a lighter version of the tip. Choosing it at checkout reduces each crutch by 0.4 lb, so the aluminum XG goes from 2.2 lb to 1.8 lb, and the Black Mamba goes from 1.8 lb to 1.4 lb. Select it from the Tip option on this page.

Q: Is the Ultralite tip worth it?

A: If you are on and off your crutches all day, or travel often, the 0.4 lb per side is noticeable when lifting and carrying. If you use them mostly at home, the High Performance tip is the more cushioned choice.

A: Across a pair, the Ultralite tip saves 0.8 lb total. Going from the aluminum XG with High Performance to the Black Mamba with Ultralite is a saving of 0.8 lb per crutch, 1.6 lb across the pair.

Q: How do I adjust the XG height?

A: Push the button towards the middle of the pole and pull up or down to your desired height. It adjusts in 1 inch increments and fits users from 5 foot 1 to 6 foot 6.

Q: How do I remove the tips to replace them?

A: Hold the lower pole firmly with one hand, then pull up and twist the tip with the other hand.

Q: How do I replace the rubber on the XG handgrip?

A: The rubber part cannot be replaced on its own. We sell a complete handgrip replacement.

Q: How much weight can the XG hold?

A: The XG crutches support up to 360 lb per pair. The XG Perfect Cane single unit supports up to 180 lb.
